Henderson Funeral Home has been serving Hernando, Sardis and Tunica area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

Our Beginnings

Henderson Funeral Home is a family owned business that was founded by G.W. Henderson Sr. in 1958 in Hernando, MS. The business is currently owned by Geneva Henderson and managed by Clara Henderson Burnett and Cedric Burnett. We are one of a few Family owned funeral homes in DeSoto County, MS.

G.W. Henderson was born in Eudora, MS to the late Settle and Mattie Henderson. G.W. had six siblings; Jim Henderson, Nannie Mae Henderson, Settle Henderson, Lee Ivory Henderson, Joe Henderson, Almamie Henderson Smith, and Katherine Henderson Witherspoon, all of DeSoto County origin.

G.W. Henderson began his career in the funeral industry in the early 20th century working as an insurance agent and funeral director for Century Funeral Home, Phillips Funeral Home, and Woolfe Funeral Home. His first funeral home was a small facility located in the heart of Hernando in the area known as the West End. He later purchased Brantley Funeral Chapel on South Panola St. in the early 70's from the late James Maxey.
